Kinda crazy.
So this weekend, I kinda went on a binge. Not a normal binge though, oh no, that would be too mainstream. I binged on spaghetti sauce and vegetable soup.
You see, us at the E&H household, we are simple, plain folk. We like what we like. We buy alot of the exact same items, pretty much every week, or month, or whatnot.
And when Publix does the following two things, what am I supposed to do?
Thing 1 – Put Ragu 1 LB jars of spaghetti sauce, all flavors (and theres alot, probably 12) for buy one, get one free, no limit, a savings of 1.99 (as they cost 1.99 each). I bought 16 of them.
Thing 2 – Put Campbell’s Vegetable Beef Soup on sale for 10 for $10.00, a savings of $.39 a can (usually $1.39 each). I bought 10 of those.
The corner of our kitchen looks like either a bomb shelter or a uber-large kitchen’s pantry.
And just to totally nerd it out…
Total Savings
16 jars of spaghetti sauce * 1.99 (normal price) = $31.84
10 cans of soup * 1.39 = $13.90
Total: 45.74
16 jars of spaghetti sauce * 0.995 (sale price) = $15.92
10 cans of soup * 1.00 = 10.00
Total = 25.92
Difference = 19.82
+ tax = 21.01
Woot. 21 bucks I would have spent within the next 6 months, saved. Using “saved” is a funny word there, because technically I could have saved $21.01 by not buying any of it at all. More about that silly word in coming days/weeks.
