Ouch.
Was reading a comment thread on a recent post on Out of Ur about money, and Jesus’ view of the rich. One quote was particularly striking to me:
I think that if you’re not willing to consider the possibility that Jesus is asking you to give away all you own to the poor, then he probably will ask you that question if you’re going to follow him. - by Arnie
Crap. While this is by no means some form of absolute truth or ultimate authority-type statement… it certainly does sync up with the way I see myself and the way Jesus calls people from the bondage, in general. And it pwns me.
One more note, here’s a note of temperance from a smart dood re: above quote: “That’s a very contextual thing. I think the premise is pretty reliable, that whatever you withhold from God, God will test you in.”
FL: The Office Espionage Kit - a must for all the desk jockeys and cubicle warriors out there. Comes with: “Two mirrors, micro listening device (headphones and battery included), invisible ink pen, and a book of spying tips.” Probably the only leet thing in there is the micro listening device. Nevertheless, funny, and leet.
yeah, i think this is right on. what God wants is all of us so whatever those things are that we would tend to fight to hang on to, well, you can guess where He’s heading. i think it’s line with living in a way that honestly displays: “God is all i need”
