Irrational fear #20294

Irrational fear #20294:

Whenever I am throwing garbage into a dumpster of any type, be it large or small, and I have my keys in my other hand, I am completely convinced my brain is going to make the wrong hand throw, and all of the sudden my keys will be buried in a sea of trash, and I’ll be dumpster diving.

FL: It’s true.

Yesssssss! I have this same fear. For seriousness. I usually loop my keys around my hand somehow so that I’m almost positive they won’t remove themselves from my hand. I still worry about it, though. All the time. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one.

My keys are on a lanyard. I don’t have this problem.

I have similar fears. For example, when I throw away anything, especially in a fast food restaurant, and I have something in the other hand, I position myself so that the hand with the trash in it is closest to the trash can, therefore minimizing the chances of accidental disposal.
It’s amazing what the mind comes up with, isn’t it???

[...] What we giggled at: Eric has an irrational fear that turns out to be quite shared among the community. That is to say, all manner of folks worry about droping their keys. Speaking of keys… What the keys!!111 [...]
